Question of the day...the unexpected...

What is something unexpected that has changed about you in the last few years?

Good question.... I have become much more independent and confident since I started teaching overseas. At 64 that is a terrific thing to realize.

Hey! Glad to see you Heather! I hope you come back again.

For me, I would have to say my granddaughter's 6 day journey this side of heaven last November.

I don't think I've had any real change...I think I've mellowed, but that's just aging.
My breast cancer diagnosis was certainly unexpected. And that it was a rare type called "triple Negative" was even more unexpected. It led to a double mastectomy and chemo. EVERYTHING about Cancer changes EVERYTHING, except Jesus. His love never changes. He has continued to bless me through this.

Becoming a mother-in-law and grandmother was certainly unexpected - I'm too young ;)

Gaining independence exactly a year ago. Yesterday marked one year since I signed my lease for my apartment, and move in day was Feb 22, 2014. I just posted this on my facebook wall, so I thought I would share here as well..

Wow. Just..... wow. Has it really been a year since I moved into my apartment?? REALLY?? A YEAR!?!?! Where the heck did the time go??? I feel like I just moved in sometimes!!! I LOVE my place, and am so thankful to everyone who had a hand in helping me get to where I am. And today I once again mourn the loss of my office chair (haha.. Michael... wink emoticon ) Ha.
But seriously, I never thought I would be able to make it on my own with my limited resources, but God has proved faithful time after time, and I have never had to go without. Everyone who visits always compliments on how cute my place is... and I take NO credit for it. Almost every piece of furniture or decoration has a story about who/where it came from. There is NO way I could have ever done this on my own. even as all of this (hearing about the apartment, and everything involved in getting it) was unfolding, I was dumbstruck that it was happening to someone like me. Who am I that I would be given so much?
Even today, looking around my place and seeing how far I have come, I can't help but wonder why God has been so good to me. I am but a dirty filthy rag, and yet He saw fit to bless me with a wonderful "cute" apartment that is close to church, the library, a store if I need something quick, and right at downtown Perrysburg.
All this to say: I am blessed. I have awesome friends and family, but more importantly, an awesome God, whom without, none of this would be possible.

Dawn, congrats on your anniversary! Now that you wrote all that, you should put it in a layout!
