Chatter & Layouts March 15 - 21

An InLinkz Link-up

As always (see rules), by adding your image, you give permission for me to add your images to the guide pages.  Only the small web version is used.
1.  Link to Flickr or a blog post on linky.
2.  ONLY add links to layouts of lessons or challenges at Hummie's World.  You can add any layouts to the gallery, of course.
3.  Begin title with the lesson/challenge name & number.

I very much enjoy all who post comments and chatter on the blog. You make my day.

Wait until you all see what cool thing Tammy made for us. I have to find time to set it up more.

I went through his morning and caught up on all the questions of the day that Tammy has been putting up for us too. I appreciate that! Please encourage her by participating.

I think that trunk question needs to be a challenge. Whose going to make a layout and make it into a challenge post? Dawn, Amarie? Tammy?

I hope everyone is have a wonderful Sunday.

It's sunny here and I think I'm going to go clean up the patio.

For anyone who has time, I saw my young friend post on my blog here and followed it to her new blog.

Leaving her a comment would be encouraging for her to keep sharing her faith.

I know she's started and deleted so many blogs in the past. She's a gifted writer and amazing person. I just wish she'd keep a blog for a long time finally.

Happy Monday all!

I'm hoping for a more normal week. With all these funerals, and bad weather, life hasn't been normal.

Last week to teach my class. Not sure if next class will have enough students. Time will tell. May be chance my Thursdays will free up soon and I'll be thankful for one free night a week.

Trying to decide what to do with my time today. Getting back in gear.

Work on adding images to guides?
Think up new content?
Except not many did my last template.
Combine scrapping & new content?
Do an arrow prayer image?

Oh, I think first I'll get the new credit system up and going.
Hummie B said…
I'm talking to myself. Is that bad?

Anyway, I did not get as far as I wanted to this morning. I got stuck cleaning off my computer desktop.

And then an idea hit me to add the award icons to the credit thing and I got stuck trying to figure that out.

In the meantime, if anyone wants sneak peek at what Tammy and I are working on and go ahead and request a credit document, you can do so.

See here:

Thank you for all your hard work Hummie and Tammy with the new credit system! I'm excited about it!!

And today is the first full day I have been home in almost 2 weeks. I've been catching up on cleaning, but I really want to scrap that circle layout also.

I'm just so wiped out. All this craziness has taken a toll on my body. Especially my feet.

Saw Chris Tomlin, Tenth Avenue North, and Rend Collective last night. Great show.

Sunny here. Have had fun working with Hummie on the new, awesome, totally fantastic credit document!!!
Maggie Adair said…
Ok so I'm now wondering what this new credit doc is going to look like. Did I miss doing a template Hummie? Can't remember - senior's moment I guess. I'm just enjoying doing 3 classes right now - Filters, Blending Modes & Photography. You are such a great teacher - even when things go wrong in the video LOL!

Can I scream!

I have time to work and cannot even work. This forum stuff cannot be done fast enough!

I'm on the phone with hosting and they say they have been having mysql problems lately, and since 1 p.m. today.

This has been going on for months!
Tammy said…
Go ahead and scream. Sometimes it helps. :)
Hummie B said…
Thanks for that permission Tammy. :)
They said they have no expected time of fixing it either.

What happens is I get so frustrated that I cannot shift gears to go do something else. I have other things I can do.

I guess I sort of did. It was late anyway last night, so I watched t.v. and ran in place, getting in some fitbit steps.

Happy St. Patrick's Day all!

What is everyone doing today?
Tammy said…
I'm watching my grandson this morning and then homeschooling.

Scrapbook Bytes is closing. :(

I was in the forum okay this morning. Finally deleted the two threads I tried a zillion times to delete last night.

Then I had one last Course 1 thread to get, with over 230 posts, and got through page 4, before I had to quit to go to work.

Now I cannot get into the forum again. Sigh.

Course 1 has had a ton of layouts, over 100 each lesson, to download.

So I'm glad to be almost done with it, with the exception of all 150 layout suggestion threads I need to get to. There is some great inspiration for newbies in those threads.
I've only moved over one of those.
Hummie B said…
Tammy, so sad about SBB and the industry all together.

I'd love to be watching my granddaughter right now!

Had 21 people here for dinner on Sunday for Steve's 66th birthday! I made one pan of gluten-free lasagna, but bought the other two pans from Costco - theirs are good. :)

The 'overdue' mama is still waiting; my daughter-in-law (due in June, having problems) is set up for an appointment at Oregon Health Sciences University on Friday; my daughter who is due in April will be seeing her doctor tomorrow. Anxious to hear what's happening - it turns out she did have protein in the urine on Saturday, when they went to ER because she had trouble breathing...

Thank you to all who are praying.
Hummie B said…
My heart and prayers are with my Uncle Bob today, who is in a coma. What a tough year this is turning out to be.
Hummie B said…
Anita, thanks for the update. I was just thinking about it and was going to ask, but you already apprised us. Hang in their, Grandma!

I am trying to do my photography lessons using the frustrating & useless Australian internet network - their excuse, we are in a 3G area not 4G! Why is Australia so far behind America in technology? I'm glad you asked. Their favorite motto "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". They wait till something won't work anymore at all, before debating for the next 20 years about upgrading. Why did we move to Australia? Sigh!
Hummie B said…
I see the materials are up for the Bible study you are doing Tammy.

I'm curious. Add me to your email list, but I cannot commit at this time to participate. If I get inspired and God leads me though... we'll see.
Hummie B said…
Maggie, you make me smile! Sorry for your internet frustrations! Hang in there!

Oh, and remember the theme? You have permission to scream!
Tammy said…
Adding you, Hummie! :)
Hummie B said…
Forum seems to be working right now. It's been "on" before and then gone off. So grab any credits you need to grab while you can to move them to the Google Docs.

I have a huge praise! When my Amy went to doctor today, her blood pressure was more normal, and no blood in the urine!! I'm no expert on how it usually works, but I am believing this is all an answer to prayer - so thank you to all who've been praying!! Now, if we can just have good news on Friday about my daughter-in-love!
Hummie B said…
Forum was up for about 3 hours, now it's down again. So frustrating. Slow but sure I hope to get stuff out of it.

If Godaddy would just fix their mysql hosting. That's what is doing it right now. They have no expected time of fix.

I wonder if they aren't saying and it's something like they are being targeted by bad guys.

Makes me glad I'm moving it all to html. Then the hole thing is on my computer and can always be uploaded anywhere easily.

Right now I've read complaints on Twitter that people cannot even back up their mysql databases so they can switch sites.

I'm reflecting on all the stresses through the years this forum has caused me and I'm ready to leave it all behind.

As long as Blogger stays here and around...but I can back that up to hmtl would just be an archive though...but I can back it all up.
Hummie B said…
Anita! How awesome for answer to prayer!

I think we were posting our comments at the same time.

May God continue to provide good news.
Hummie B said…
I have no idea what number I was on before, but I have 786 more class threads to get layouts out of.

Did anyone, including myself, realize how many challenges and tutorials are here?
Hummie B said…
Happy Thursday!

How's everyone's week?

How's everyone's fitness going?

I seem to be more lonely lately and missing people around the site.

Did I chase you all off? Giggle

Tonight is my last class to teach of this session. I'm not sure if the next session will get enough students yet or if I will be doing private tutoring, but there is a chance next Thursday I will be free and, next Friday, and I won't know what to do with myself having two free evenings in a row! It's been a LONG time! Anxious to see if it happens.

The forum was working last night and I got a lot of threads worked through, after my cleaning job in the evening.

I've been trying to get steps in this week and that has taken up a lot of my free time in the evening, running in place.

It's so hard to choose what to do with my little free time.

Maybe I should type this stuff on a blog post instead of comments? Would it spur on more chatter?
Hummie B said…
Also, what happened to our layout of the week/day posts?
Tammy said…
Sorry. I dropped the ball on layout of the week... I will pick on tomorrow!!!!
Hummie B said…
Yeah Tammy! No problem. We all have life get in the way. Routines break and we forget. I know I do!

Thanks for all your help with that awesome credit document.

Dawn is to be PM'ing folks to ask them to move credits over. The forum has been down, so hopefully has has time soon so more people can see how awesome it is.

I think only 5 or so have started one. I saw a few working in them last night. I can see last active dates which is cool!
Maggie Adair said…
Ok so I'm a bit slow in asking this - but where are you putting all the class threads? Will they be with the class tutorials?
Hummie B said…
Yes, Maggie. Thanks for asking. The threads are being deleted from the forum. I am saving the images/layouts and moving them to the class guides on each individual lesson. Inspiration from others before you has been a big part of the learning and I want to be sure that is preserved.

Also, there are just a lot of good resources in the forum too. I saved a bunch of good ideas just yesterday for The Fun Extras into a Word document before deleting the threads. I also have just been blogging some of the stuff in the forum to preserve it before deleting it.

It's a huge task, but to think all this could be lost just because a database becomes corrupt. Or as in recently the host was not working for weeks.

The guides are html pages on my computer. I won't worry they are lost. They can always be re-uploaded anywhere.

To have SO much and many good resources stuck in ONE file, that is the database, I realized several years ago is a scary thing. I've seen digisites close because their database became corrupt.
Hummie B said…
And I truly appreciate everyone offering to help save the images for me, but I do have a system going, and the uploading can only be done by me anyway.

I've decided that what I really need is everyone's help in making the site active by putting up new challenges for each other to do, and doing it, and commenting, etc.

Since I'm currently working 4 jobs and doing this work moving the forum, I'm not able to get to new content. New content keeps the site live and that's what I need you all for -- to hold me up where I'm failing.
So I thought I would come here and post something.... I got fed up with windows the other day - so I am working on getting linux set up on my laptop. So I am backing up all of my files.... and of course the 1000s and 1000s of digiscrap stuff.....

I am also thinking alot about the industry, with SBB closing etc. I am probably going to stop "designing" somewhat soon.... I won't ever truly quit.... But I have found a NEW way to use my digiscrap supplies - with our new Cricut explore. I have been busy making cards the past few months and loving it! Plus I have made other things as well....

I also am thinking about scrapping some LOs as well.... On linux, I will probably be using GIMP, unless I can get Photoshop to work..... I will try to get it running. SO I might need to do the lessons to help me figure out how to do things in GIMP..... :)
Hummie B said…
Down to 689 threads (most of the down was from last night's work).
189 "other" threads to get to (ie resources, games)
and 92 credit threads
Total 970 more threads - at least it's under 1,000!

Lori, so good to see you here in chatter.

I've been thinking about mentioning to everyone to start posting about fitness in chatter. Those were the posts I saw you at most of the time.

Glad you have found another hobby you enjoy. I keep wanting to get back to genealogy and building that website.

Glad you are thinking of scrapping again! Yep, we would love to have you doing lessons again and being active here again.

I may be closing some areas and moving around, but my plan is to be here for a long while to come, even if just to enjoy each other's company and layouts.
Maggie Adair said…
It's always sad to hear of scrapbook sites closing. I know that we all have seasons in our lives, and I don't know the reason they decide to close down, but for the rest of us it is sad.

I was out shopping for some white eyelets this week. There are not a hang of a lot of scrapbooking shops around me (that I know of) and I went to all the places I thought MIGHT surely have them. Do you know I could not find one shop that sold WHITE eyelets!

I have been doing my family tree again the last few weeks.

I found some ancestors who migrated to the good old USA.. from the UK of course. How about that..

I was most surprised. Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Have not traced them any further than that.

Happy Spring Equinox (or Fall Equinox?)!!!!

I have to open windows again.... I forgot to turn off Photoshop - so I can put it in linux....

I am doing some copying over files... before I totally delete windows.

I need to share some of my hybrid stuff that I am making with my Cricut Explore. It is a lot of fun! :)

I forgot to mention.... I am fighting the flu... so I am sort of here....
Hummie B said…
Happy first day of Spring! It sure doesn't seem Spring here, but I think the weather may change for Spring tomorrow. My daffodils are close to blooming.

Lori, I hope you don't get sick and instead get better.

Maggie, funny about white eyelets. You'd think even Wal-mart would have them.

Jody, yeah for genealogy progress! I'm really going to do some soon. Seriously. lol As soon as the forum work is done.

Dawn, I would love to see those Christian artists.

Progress update:
Still 92 credit threads to move to new credit system. No one else has requested one and it's bothersome.

135 "other" resource pages

624 class threads

Total: 851

As I've said before. Some of these class threads have over 100 images! So I try to hit a big one and then do a bunch of smaller ones to make me feel like I am making progress.
I have been sick since Wed.... feeling somewhat better today - will see how I am in the afternoon....

I am now on Linux only. Someone in the Ubuntu forum said that someone got CS5 to work..... I have to find out where! I am uploading all of my files... finally finished with the scrapbook folder - that was huge.... :)

Happy Spring time to everyone in the northern hemisphere. We're having a mild (but cooling) autumn in our part of the southern hemisphere.

Had the granddaughters over for a sleepover last night and going out for the day with the family today. My cup runneth over :)

We are getting lots of storms here again.. Looking like summer will just not give up.

What a week this has been! On Wednesday night my computer died. Not the hard drive (which was good), but the computer. We were able to find a 'new' used one on Craig's List, and my older son has gotten me up and running again.

My younger son's wife is now at Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital - she isn't due for 3 months, but they have given her two steroid injections to help the baby's lungs develop, in case of an early delivery. Found out that the bleeding she's been having is from a blood clot. The placenta is over the cervix, and the blood clot is between the placenta & cervix, potentially dangerous - prayers appreciated.
Hummie B said…
Anita, so scary that potential danger. May you be able to give your worries to God. That's hard to do I know!

Jody, so fun to keep us in check that the world is separated into two hemispheres. We are expecting storms here Wednesday as we change to Spring and you have them as you change to Fall.

Maggie, I hope you enjoyed that family time!

Lori, I'm going to start to count calories again today!

Hi. It's been a while since I've had time to come look and chat. I've been keeping daily track of everything I do (when I remember what I've done) at MyFitness. Haven't lost any weight but haven't gained any either.

I finally finished getting my tax info together for our CPA who is only now getting our business tax returns done so now he can complete the personal ones. We've slowed down a bit at work so I feel like I can breathe when I come home.

I spent the weekend cooking, baking, cleaning and sewing. I learned how to make an Artisan white bread which is so easy to do with NO kneading, and a cake that doesn't have any milk, eggs, sugar, or butter in it. My grandson (who lives with us) spent the weekend at a local scout camp and even though it was the first day of spring, it snowed! What a muddy mess since Saturday was in the 50s! So Sunday was spent washing all his gear and cleaning the cast iron dutch oven he used as cook. He brought home a whole bunch of leftover foods stuffs so we made an apple cake with the fruit and eggs as well as making smoothies to use up the yogurt the boys didn't eat.
