Yes. We were way off on a forest service road miles away from civilization and we all got out of the van to look around and the keys were left in the ignition. I honestly don't remember who locked the doors. We had to break a window to get in and it was an uncomfortable drive home with a broken window. I'm glad it was summer and not raining!!

Great question!

I cannot remember ever having done it, but my men did it once time with my keys! We were at a park in St. Louis with my parents when the boys were younger. Hubby took my keys to get something from trunk and laid the keys inside the trunk. One of the boys came along and closed the trunk! Hubby had not brought his spare keys. Fortunately, my Dad faked that it was his car and called AAA and they came and unlocked it for us.

Yes...and only once! I was very young and just had a baby. It was very cold and I had to run into an auto store for a part so I left the car running to keep it warm and left the baby in the back. Needless to say, out of habit I locked the car and didn't realize it until I went to get back into the car. Fortunately it was an auto store and the owner (whom I knew personally) had one of those things that opened car doors..nowadays I would probably have been put in jail for doing that! Back then no one thought anything of leaving a child or animal in the car to run a quick errand. But it did teach me to ALWAYS double check that I had the keys with me. Now my car won't lock if the keys are left in it so I don't have to worry anymore which is good since I am much older and more forgetful :)
