Whew! What shall I title this? Huge project done is not sufficient!

On November 12, 2007, I was able to sign in alone into the forum and on January 1, 2008, the forum was open to subscriptions.  The forum had a great run and lots of great memories, but then the digital scrapbooking and the forum decline began and I had to adapt. After six and a half years (6 1/2) of building, I began deconstructing.

STEP ONE - Moving videos to Youtube and creating class guide pages.

June 24, 2013
I began moving the videos from the private forum and adding them to Youtube.  The forum subscriptions became donations only since the content was all on the guide and Youtube. It was a long process to marry the Youtube videos with each class guide. New class guide pages had to be created for each lesson.

November 11, 2013
I was still working daily to create new pages and upload videos to Youtube.  There were 522 pages on the website.

December 16, 2013
There were 689 pages on the website, 26 videos left to upload, and 612 videos on Youtube.

June 30, 2014
In an effort to keep the forum alive, I moved back to a shared hosting to cut costs.

August 9, 2014
I finished moving all of the videos to Youtube and creating all of the class guide pages. It took me 14 months to finish this project.

I had worked hard for months to remove posts in the forum that had images that did not show up or posts that were no longer applicable to make the site database smaller, while preserving as much information as possible.  I tried to add things to the forum such as loyalty points to make it a fun place to visit.

STEP TWO - Closing the forum and preserving information

January 13, 2015
I was nearly convinced to close the forum due to problems with vBulletin and lack of participation due to Facebook killing forums.

January 20, 2015
I began shutting down the forum, moving most of it to the blog where we began chatting in the comments on the blog instead of the forum. At this point, I had a huge task ahead of me of saving all of the student images and information from the forum so I could preserve it to eventually go on the class guides.

March 18, 2015
We came up with the new way, without the forum, to keep credits, giving students the ability to keep their own credits.

April 20, 2015
Good-bye forum. While creating new content, I was also getting information out of the forum. It took me three months working constantly. With all information out of the forum and saved on my computer, I was able to remove the forum from the server. What began November 12, 2007, was gone. It was a sad day.

STEP THREE - Adding preserved information to the class guides

Next began the very long process of adding student images to the class guides. Many of the class guides had 20 challenges on one page.  In order to add images for each lesson, I had to convert one page into 20, manually creating the navigation menu.

July 24, 2015
In an effort to increase communication, the new Facebook group was opened.

March 1, 2016
I finally finished putting all of the Course 2 student images on the class guides.  This was a huge undertaking which I thought I would never finish! I had decided to attack the largest class first so as to feel progress.

April 21, 2016
I finally took the time to spend weeks learning new bootstrap coding to make the website mobile friendly and combined two websites.  This was a huge burden lifted off my shoulders to have finally accomplished this daunting task. With this behind me, I felt less overwhelmed and could put the full charge ahead on adding class images to the guides.

July 25, 2016
1,127 days (3 years, 1 month, 1 day) after I began creating the class guides and moving videos to Youtube

552 days (1 year, 6 months, 5 days) after I began shutting down the forum

462 days (1 year, 3 months, 5 days) after removing the forum from the server

at 8:32 p.m.
I am finally officially caught up adding images to the class guides
1,788 pages are on the website
17,233 images

P.S.. There are hundreds more images on the server, but these are just for the class guides.
P.S.S. I still have other chores to do with the site, such as the miscellaneous downloads that I have in a folder that go somewhere, to tweak the titles of the pages, organizing download folders, and other random things. But these things will get done as they get done.

NOW what shall I do next?  I've done this for so long I may be lost without the habit!

I shall silently celebrate by myself in my head.

You, my dear friend, are truly an inspiration. You have meticulously worked on this day in, and day out for literally years! You deserve a vacation! Seriously!!

While I can't truly comprehend all that you have had to do, there was a time when I worked along with you back in the forum days, so I think I know more than most about all the work that is done behind the scenes. Of course, I don't have a clue with all the web stuff, but suffice to say, it wasn't easy. But you did it!!!

Congratulations seems to be an understatement! I think you should take a break for a bit to just rest and relax before moving on to the next thing.

I for one am so proud of you!!!
