Love God Greatly - My SOAPS

I have been doing this Love God Greatly for a while now, maybe even over a year, with Tammy in a private emailing.  She sends an initial email to those participating and we hit "reply all" and write our SOAP back to everyone.  The emails sometimes come in all day long and I enjoy reading others thoughts on the verses.  It is really quick to do, but there are times when I do not get to it and Tammy does not judge and just keeps on going and I join in when I can.  If you want to join her, she welcomes anyone.  Just let me know your email address and I'll send it to her.

I have written a lot of things over the time doing this that I think sometimes to myself that the S.O.A.P.'S (scripture, observation, application, prayer) I write should be shared on my blog and preserved for me to read again later, but that takes time.

I thought I would share a few I've written in the last week here.

S - Genesis 3:15 (ESV) I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”
O - between you(r); bruise
A - The story of the apple and the beginning of sin. God is talking to the serpent, satan, in this verse. He made the serpent crawl on its belly and put a war of sin between the serpent and Eve and all her offspring, which would include me and you. Sin and the temptation of satan is between me and God. Sin is what bruises. Sin hurts. Need Jesus.
P - Lord, it is always good to remember where sin started and why I need You so much. Thanks for loving me and dying on the cross for me. Amen.

Reading - Micah 5:2-5

S - Micah 5:2 (ESV) But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.
O - Bethlehem Ephrathath, too little, ruler, from ancient of days
A - The district of Ephrathath was where Bethlehem was located and to earthly ways, it was too small, insignificant, but from something man sees as insignificant, God can bring forth something great, like to tie the whole Bible together from ancient of days to now to bring us our amazing Ruler.
P - Father, wow, your creation is amazing how it all comes together so we can know the truth. Amen.

Reading - Isaiah 9:6-7

S - Isaiah 9:6 (ESV) For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
O - his name
A - Jesus has many names and I always forget to use them when I pray to Him.
P - Wonderful Counselor, how awesome that you are always here for me when I need someone to talk too. Mighty God, what a comfort to me that you are the one and only mighty over all things and yet you love me. Everlasting Father, thanks. Thanks for life forever with you instead of the alternative. Prince of peace, I praise You for the peace that passes all understanding. I sit here and take a deep breath and feel that peace overcome all. In your many names, but most of all your precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Reading - 2 Samuel 7:10-13
S - 2 Samuel 7:12-13 (ESV) When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.
O - lie down with your fathers, raise up your offspring
A - God told David through the prophet a promise that he would be with those ancestors before David and those children who came after David, in God's house and at the feet of the Jesus thrown in His kingdom in heaven forever. This is also a promise for me.
P - Lord, thank you for reminding me that although relationships with my loved ones here on earth are not always good, that you promise me that me and my loved ones who believe in You, in the past and in the future, will all come together to delight and praise Your Holy name before Your throne in Your heavenly kingdom forever and ever. There will be no more walls and difficulties parting these relationships in Your kingdom. Also, I do this genealogy for fun to dig up and bring people to life from my past that have been a part of the journey of my making, but the idea of actually meeting these people in heaven some day, especially seeing glimpses of their faith along my research journey, only tickles my belly. Only You, Lord, could bring us together and I look forward to that day. Come Lord Jesus, Come. Amen.
