Matthew 7:7-11 ASK, AND IT WILL BE GIVEN (Digital Bible Journaling & Notes)
I am still reading through the Gospels chronologically. Thanks to all that are following me. Next will be: Matthew 7:12-14
Matthew 7:7-11 ASK, AND IT WILL BE GIVEN
What a promise God makes for me with this verse. All I have to do is ask God and it will be given to me! All I have to do is seek and I will find it! All I have to do is knock and the door will be opened for me! Of course, I will not receive anything that is not of His will, but He does care about me and He does love me and He does want me to be happy. I am His child and He loves me as a Father. How do I ask? By prayer! Do I talk to God enough? When I ask, I should ask with child-like faith. How hard do I knock when it is something I really really really want? How long do I earnestly knock and not give up? Never give up on God. Stand at the door and do not run away. Seek Him with all my heart. Knock like you live in His house, not someone who is a stranger. This verse does not say "when" I will receive. God's timing is best. Where do I find God?
The best things to ask God for are things within me, such as knowledge, patience, wisdom, love, goodness, comfort, faith, understanding, selflessness, and any characteristic that is godly. Pray that everyone will know Christ.
James 4:2, "You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask." What happens if I do not ask God for my desires and instead covet what another has? It leads to sin, to the sin of trying to get what I want from other means than from God. I should be pursuing God and not earthly means and what I will find is a loving Father.
God, I have a new goal today and I'm standing here knocking on Your door and asking you to take away my stress and make my goals happen in the way that would best glorify You. I want to make this thing happen, but cannot make it happen on my own. I need You, Lord. I need your guidance and your direction, so show me the best way to make this thing happen.
