Fort de Chartres, Illinois

We went to the Fort De Chartres reenactment on Saturday and had a great time.  I was "getting my French on," as I've been saying, learning about French heritage where my ancestors were from.  I took a lot of photos, but have only shared a few.
I thought these were wine barrels and then I was corrected that they were gunpowder barrels. Note the dates are 1756. It is said that some of the original gunpowder is still in the barrels.
I read that my ancestor was "one of the engineers" in the building of Fort de Chartres so the awesomeness of the white brick structure drew me in. Another ancestor was militia here. Kind of cool history
Again, look that that awesome structure.
There is just something about those tucked-up coat ends ....
